Squash.
Stay Active has a partnership with Squash SA through Sporting Schools which means you can book us directly for your next Oz Squash program. OzSquash uses a 'learning through play' philosophy to develop basic squash specific skills and concepts as well as other important physical and cognitive skills via fun games.
Stay Active can work with your school to assist in developing, implementing and coordinating an OzSquash program which can be integrated into your schools existing curriculum. All activities are aligned to learning outcomes and standards from the Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum.
Program content:
The skills students will learn include: grips, striking, volleying and serving. Many activities within the OzSquash program are adapted from the Playing for Life approach where the major emphasis is on maximum participation, high levels of activity in a fun, inclusive and safe environment. Stay Active have a partnership with Squash SA that enables students to have access to a free “come ‘n’ try” session at an affiliated squash centre, when the school is within a 5km radius of that centre. This session would follow the completion of the Sporting Schools program and would be run by an accredited Squash Club Development Officer.
Format:
Stay Active can deliver a once-off Squash session to kick off your school's PE Week or National Health and Physical Education Day. (Please note: one-off sessions cannot be funded through Sporting Schools).
We can also begin your PE Program with a 4-week block of sessions (e.g. every Friday for 4-weeks) facilitated by Stay Active to encourage participation and ongoing engagement. Where possible, we also work with your school's existing timetable to ensure minimal disruption to the student learning environment.
Equipment:
To promote ongoing participation in sport and physical activity beyond the delivery of our programs, Stay Active endeavours to utilise any sports equipment available at the school and/or OSHC. Alternatively, we can lend our OzSquash equipment pack to your school for the duration of the program at no charge. However it is important to note that this will be discussed with the school prior to scheduling the program.
Qualification:
Stay Active coaches have completed Squash Australia's Foundation Level Coaching course which qualifies them to run Squash programs in primary schools.
